Read the pattern, not the list
Nearly every monster drops a resource at 70% and a monster part at 30%. Ore clods add a gem at 5%, and most monsters also have a low-rate pet skin or hat. Learn the five archetypes and each new biome is a recolour with one or two additions.
| Archetype | Resource drop | Monster part |
|---|---|---|
| Sapling | Sap | Monster fang |
| Rock Clod | Stone | Monster shell |
| Ore Clod | The biome’s ore | Monster shell (+ gem at 5%) |
| Mushroom | A biome toadstool or mushroom | Monster powder |
| Enchantern | Glass | Monster core |
Gems by biome
The gem attached to each biome’s ore clod is the practical reason to clear them rather than walk past.
| Biome | Ore clod | Gem (5%) |
|---|---|---|
| Upper Mines | Copper Ore Clod | Ruby |
| Tide Caverns | Iron Ore Clod | Sapphire |
| Deep Earth | Silver Ore Clod | Emerald |
| Lava Caves | Gold Ore Clod | Diamond |
| Ancient Ruins | Mistril / Purple Rock Clod | Pink diamond (perfect: 1%) |
Monsters that break the pattern
These are the ones worth seeking out deliberately, because they are the only source of their drop.
| Monster | Biome | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Purple Essence Bats | Tide Caverns | Essence drops (70%) — perk currency from combat |
| Blue Essence Bats | Deep Earth | Essence drops (70%) |
| Lava Cats | Lava Caves | Obsidian (30%) and monster whisker (30%) |
| Flame Spirits | Lava Caves, Ancient Ruins | Wood and peat (70% each) plus monster core |
| Void Cats | Ancient Ruins | Monster whisker (30%), void cat hat (5%) |
| Rock Stacks | Ancient Ruins | Monster block (30%) |
| Living Gryphon Statues | Ancient Ruins | Gryphon statue hat (5%) |
Pet skins and hats
Almost every monster has a low-rate cosmetic drop, typically a hat at around 5% and pet skins on the common archetypes. These are collection items rather than progression items, so they are best treated as something that accumulates rather than something to farm.
